"The seafood/octopus rice was awesome — generous portions with fresh, flavorful seafood. The service from the staff was kind, warm, and quick. Reasonably priced for the quality too. This is a small restaurant with a limited number of tables, so I'd definitely recommend reserving one beforehand."

"Excellent service, very friendly. We were seated after 10 minutes near the front of the restaurant. We liked both our servers. The food was delicious. We ordered 1 seafood rice, 1 bolognese spaghetti, 4 daily soups and 2 drinks among the 4 of us. Very flavourful seafood rice. I’m not a seafood person, but the sauce was very delicious. There was a unique flavour to the bolognese that I highly recommend. The soups were vegetable soups that were creamy and comforting."

"The restaurant was really small but the vibes were very cozy. The food was good but just a bit warm. We also had the mango mousse at the end which was really tasty!!"

"This restaurant is so good! And the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Also the foods! The best delicious meals in Lisbon! Highly recommend this!! When the staff knew I have period, she gave me a cup of hot drink and comforted me! We got free drinks too!"

"Absolutely loved this tiny little tavern we discovered on our first night in the Alfama district. I had the whole grilled sea bass, which was excellent, while my wife had the Bolognese, which was also very good. We enjoyed the place so much that we returned for dinner again on our last night in Lisbon. Though small and intimate, the atmosphere feels wonderfully authentic."

"One of the best dining experiences we have had. Authentically Portuguese yet truly unique. The service is exceptional as the waiters present the menu and explain every dish with such grace including a thorough check for allergies. We had a celiac diner with us and they perfectly adapted the meal to be gluten free. Every single dish we chose was incredible and the wine was superb. We left the restaurant absolutely charmed by the wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommended."

"Visiting Taverna Alfacinha in Lisbon turned out to be a memorable experience, especially when it came to the food. We ordered the grilled octopus and a steak dish, and both were genuinely outstanding. The octopus was tender, flavorful, and perfectly charred, while the steak was cooked just right, juicy, and full of rich taste. It’s clear that the kitchen takes pride in the quality and preparation of their dishes, and that alone makes the restaurant worth visiting. However, it’s important to mention that the waiting time was noticeably long. We waited around thirty minutes—maybe even a bit more—before our food arrived. While the meal was absolutely worth it in the end, the delay is something to keep in mind, especially if you’re visiting during peak hours. The place gets busy, and you can feel that the staff are doing their best, but the high demand definitely slows things down. The atmosphere, on the other hand, is warm and pleasant. The restaurant has a lively, local feel that adds to the charm of the experience. Even though it was crowded, the energy was positive, and it felt like a place where people genuinely enjoy gathering for good food and conversation. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which helped balance out the longer wait. One of the biggest advantages of Taverna Alfacinha is the pricing. For the quality of the dishes—especially the seafood and meat—the prices are surprisingly reasonable. It’s rare to find a spot that offers such well‑prepared food without being overpriced, especially in a popular city like Lisbon. Overall, Taverna Alfacinha delivers excellent food, a lively atmosphere, and great value for money. If you don’t mind waiting a bit, it’s definitely a place worth trying."

"Rustic Portuguese food. Lovely hole in the wall type resto. Very hearty seafood rice, flavourful garlic mussels and a tasty octopus. Will go again. Thanks for the lovely meal. Nice cold beers as well."
